✏Wall of Silence Book Summary : The lies we tell ourselves as children become the truths we live by as adults, and the Miller house was full of lies. Two girls grew up in this house, each taking a different path to survive her abusive childhood. One chose a path of rebellion and self-destruction, while the other played the role of the good girl and caretaker--but both girls knew how to keep secrets. If it is true that we are only as sick as our secrets, both Miller girls were in real trouble. Distrusting people and resenting a God that would allow their abuse drove these sisters deeper into their secret-keeping world, until the day they let a few godly people behind their protected wall of silence. Although they were saved, childhood habits are hard to break. Who could have guessed that God would use something as devastating as a murder trial to expose their most painful and protected secrets and finally bring freedom to both of the Miller girls?

✏Tear Down This Wall of Silence Book Summary : Why do so many of our churches feel like a safe place for sexual offenders, but an unsafe place for survivors of abuse? The wall of silence regarding sexual abuse in our churches must be torn down. Christians must hear. Tear Down This Wall of Silence answers questions such as: Who are the Enablers who help keep a system of abuse in place? Wrong thinking has kept this sin covered in our churches for decades. What are the truths that need to be proclaimed instead? Churches, families, and friends must not turn away. How do we properly grieve such a tragedy? How can we offer hope? The offender must show fruits of repentance. How can he begin to make restitution? How can the abuse survivor find true safety in Jesus Christ? Through personal memoir, voices of authoritative professionals, and the words of abuse survivors themselves, Tear Down This Wall of Silence provides a foundational explanation of the problem of sexual abuse in our churches and its aftermath, and offers hope.

✏The Great Wall of Silence Book Summary : As the election year approaches, Addison Landon, an investigative reporter and political analyst, is about to uncover the most elaborate plot she, or anyone else for that matter, has ever seen. An actual plot to create the largest contiguous land empire in human history that began 646 years ago. What she uncovers is not an army that plans to overthrow governments by force, but a secret society that has ultimate political aspirations. Woven into the very political structure of Democracy that the United States holds dear to its heart, is a plot that is so well executed, that no one can see it…let alone stop it. Addison is in a race against the clock to piece together what are seemingly absurd clues that are linking her to the Mongolian Empire of 1206 AD and the ancestors of Genghis Khan himself. Ancestors that for 646 years have planned and executed the silent political takeover of the United States.

✏Blue Wall of Silence Book Summary : Suicide has been declared an epidemic and rates of suicide increase within occupational subcultures experiencing increased levels of stress and trauma, such as law enforcement. Explored in the qualitative phenomenological study were the lived experiences of White, male law enforcement officers concerning perceptions of care by administrators and peers and the influence of mental health training in the incidence of officer suicide. The study population was chosen because of the resemblance to the segment of the general population deemed at-risk for suicide. Officers provided perceptions of care in dealing with difficult situations, police culture, police training, and police suicide. Interviews allowed officers to reveal perceptions and beliefs about the affects of training on perceptions of care and on the incidence of officer suicide. Officer interviews revealed five major themes and two minor themes. Major themes included stress, stress relief, trust/loyalty, training, and change. Minor themes included generational issues and organizational administration. The largest stressor for the study population included crimes and incidents against children. The results of the study can help further educate administrators and officers about the emotional dangers facing law enforcement officers and the importance of organizational administration in assisting officers in acknowledging and overcoming issues concerning mental health.

✏The Blue Wall of Silence Book Summary : Buying Irish Patriotism for a Five-Pound Note The Real Inspector Mallon Donal P. McCracken Ireland's `Moral Hospital' The Irish Borstal System 1906-1956 Conor Reidy The Presumption of Innocence and Irish Criminal Law Whittling the `Golden Thread' Claire Hamilton Youth Justice in Ireland Tough Lives, Rough Justice Ursula Kilkelly Framing two men for a murder that never occurred. Orchestrating fake IRA bomb `finds' either side of the border. Planting guns and drugs. False arrests, abuse of detainees and securing false confessions. These were the institutionalised activities in the Donegal division of an Garda Siochana that were the subject of a landmark tribunal conducted by Justice Morris. In October 2008, after six years, the Morris Tribunal completed its work. Its findings catalogued corruption, negligence, misconduct and `a blue wall of silence' in an Garda Siochana, on an unprecedented scale. The reports also highlighted the inadequacies of existing accountability systems that were reformed substantially mid-way through the work of the Tribunal, by the Garda Siochana Act 2005. The findings and recommendations of the Tribunal are particularly striking in a country where public confidence in the police has historically been exceptionally high and criticisms of the police slow to be aired. The Blue Wall of Silence questions what contribution the Tribunal has made to the accountability of the Garda Siochana, asking not just whether it has held the Gardai involved to account, but also what impact it has had on both the accountability apparatus and broader public and political attitudes towards an Garda Siochana. Has the Tribunal fundamentally altered perceptions of the Irish police or has it work been dismissed as a blip caused by a few rotten apples? Justice Morris warned that without substantial reform the activities documented could reoccur elsewhere in Ireland. Has a sufficient level of reform been achieved? In addressing these questions the book makes a substantial contribution to national and international debates on police accountability, raising within democratic societies the crucial relationships between official inquiries, policy reform and police governance.

✏Walls of Silence Book Summary : The hero of Philip Jolowicz's astonishing debut thriller is an everyman who believes he has everything but soon finds himself inexplicably plunged into a world of unspeakable moral corruption. A world where, for its victims, death is most likely the preferred option. In his office off Wall Street, Fin Border surveys his future with confidence. He's a young attorney bound for partnership in a British law firm set to merge with its immensely powerful American cousin in Rockefeller Center. His client list is the envy of his colleagues, his already burgeoning bank account is about to swell. And he truly believes he has consigned to the past the shame and disillusion surrounding the death of his once-revered father, a founding partner of the firm. But an invitation from JJ Carlson, Fin's client and best friend and one of Wall Street's most mercurial investment bankers, proves just how fragile Fin's existence really is. After five shocking minutes, Fin is staring at a scene of carnage on the FDR Drive, as well as the wreckage of his own life and career in New York. Fin's clients are abruptly torn from him, his money is siphoned and replaced by crippling debt, and the prospect of crushing litigation and a criminal record loom large. Fin's friendships and connections count for nothing. Only Carol Amen, senior in-house counsel with Jefferson Trust -- JJ's former employer -- seems to offer any chance of survival, professional or emotional. She has a deal for him, a salve for his pride and something that will get him out of the United States for a while. But Fin has been booked on a flight to the last place on earth he wants to visit. A crackling, character-driven business thriller, masterfully spun by a true-life legal titan of global finance, Walls of Silence follows a fast-rising lawyer through a treacherous international maze of preying power brokers and deadly conspiracies.

✏The Black Wall of Silence Book Summary : The Black Wall of Silence In the midst of the sexual abuse crisis that is tearing the Church apart, a Catholic priest is caught between fighting for the victims of sexual abuse and his bond of loyalty to the Church. What makes this conflict unique is the internal struggle of the priest who is gay, in a Church that is ashamed of his orientation and rewards him for his silence. While working as a chaplain in Riker's Island Jail, Father Zach learns from an inmate's confession, that the priest whom the inmate is accused of murdering, sexually abused him when he was a teenager. Father Zach discovers that his friend, who is now a bishop, was the one who reassigned this priest after his first abuse. The battle of the priest, determined to defend the inmate, and the bishop, intent on defending the Church, drives the plot to its courtroom climax. Which will prevail - honesty or loyalty? "A taut, powerful story exploring the personal dimensions of the Catholic sexual abuse crisis." -- Kirkus Reviews "A powerful book that raises universal questions about being silenced: Do you ever muffle your own voice? What secrets imprison you?" -- Debbie Yee Lan Wong, author of The Same Sky "A gripping story of a man's struggle for his own integrity as the protagonist, Father Zach, confronts conflicting loyalties to his church, his conscience, and to his very humanity." -- Rev. Donald Cozzens, author of Master of Ceremonies "Gives readers an intimate, seldom-described peek into a gay priest's life--his sometimes conflictual and often deeply wounding relationships with Church authorities." -- Richard Taylor, author of Love in Action

However, her journey becomes more a trip of personal discovery than one of pure academic research as she begins to enjoy more and more of the idyllic lifestyle. Travelling with Mandla, a fellow South African and Black activist, helps Andrea put into perspective the more hedonistic elements of her new life. However, through the intensity of his own convictions Mandla forces his friend to re-assess her own beliefs, casting a shadow on the relationship. As the story unfolds in a landscape evoked with a breathtaking mastery, Andrea and Mandla confront the uneasy relationships which develop between themselves and their lovers. Their difficulties form an allegory for those faced by two disparate continents, as they undertake the process of reconciling Europe's past and Africa's present.
