Vibration and Acoustics of Composite Structures presents recent advances on the vibration and acoustics of elastic composite structures. It guides the reader into structural modelling and fluid-structure interactions of elastic structures made from fibre-reinforced, sandwich and functionally graded materials. To achieve this goal, the book presents a series of generalized higher-order shear deformable theories for composite straight/curved beams, plates and shells, which is not available in any other book. The book also provides originally proposed frequency and time-domain methods for structural-acoustic analyses of composite structures immersed in light and heavy acoustic fluid. We have attempted explicit and detailed accounting for the physical phenomena treated in the book, as well as their modelling, and the formulation and solution of the mathematical models. Many numerical examples are given to aid physical insight and to provide benchmark computations of vibration and sound radiation of composite structures. The book should be a useful source of information for those scientists who need to develop skills in theoretical and/or numerical modelling in dynamics and acoustics of elastic structures. It will also serve as a profitable source of material for scientists whose research interests lie elsewhere in mechanics and materials. Includes new, general higher-order shear deformation zig-zag theories for composite beams, plates and shells, and the traditional structural theories can be treated as special cases of the zig-zag theories Includes modified variational formulation for vibration analysis of composite beams, plates and shells made of fibre-reinforced and functionally graded materials Covers frequency and time domain methods for structural-acoustic analysis of composite structures immersed in unbounded light and heavy acoustic fluid

Damping in Fiber Reinforced Composite Materials starts with an introduction to the basic concepts of damping in composite materials. Methods of modeling damping are then covered, along with recent developments in measuring techniques, both local, like polar scanning and global techniques like the Resonalyser method (based on measuring modal damping ratios of composite material plates). The effect of other factors, such as stress, strain-level, stiffness and frequency that need to be considered when determining damping behavior in composite materials are
