✏REAL ID Act of 2005 and Its Interpretation Book Summary : This book analyses the major provisions of H.R. 418, which would, inter alia, (1) modify the eligibility criteria for asylum and withholding of removal; (2) limit judicial review of certain immigration decisions, (3) provide additional waiver authority over laws that might impede the expeditious construction of barriers and roads along the US-Mexican border near San Diego; (4) expand the scope of terror-related activity making an alien inadmissible and deportable (removable), as well as ineligible for certain forms of relief from removal; and (5) require states to meet certain minimum security standards in order for the drivers' licenses and personal identification cards they issue to be accepted for federal purposes (a bill by Representative Tom Davis, containing only the provisions relating to drivers' licenses and personal identification cards, has also been introduced as H.R. 368, the Driver's License Security and Modernisation Act). This book describes relevant current law relating to immigration and document-security matters, how H.R. 418 would alter current law if enacted, and the degree to which the bill duplicates existing law.

✏The Real Shakespeare Book Summary : THE REAL SHAKESPEARE This book proves that Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, wrote the plays we know as “Shakespearean.” In the play “Hamlet,” in a very special coded way, he signed his name “Ver” hundreds of times. These clues in “Hamlet” provide the stamp of his authorship! All of the Shakespearean plays and sonnets reflect incidents in the life of Edward de Vere. The real events in his life involved violence, intrigue and love—and some of them were shocking! In a web of conjecture those incidents have been tied together in a novel about de Vere. This novel is one of the main parts of this book. The other two parts are the proof!

✏Ethics of the Real Book Summary : Kant, sober Enlightenment thinker and philosopher's philosopher, seems the very antithesis of Lacan, the "wild theorist" of psychoanalysis. But, drawing on a wide range of writers from Sophocles to de Sade, Alenka Zupancic here demonstrates that the two thinkers stake everything on a similar ethical enterprise. For both, ethics is a necessary impossibility-impossible because of the infinite and inhuman demands it makes on us. Moreover, both are thinkers of desire, of the ethics of desire and the desire for ethics.

✏Cut of the Real Book Summary : Following François Laruelle's nonstandard philosophy and the work of Judith Butler, Drucilla Cornell, Luce Irigaray, and Rosi Braidotti, Katerina Kolozova reclaims the relevance of categories traditionally rendered "unthinkable" by postmodern feminist philosophies, such as "the real," "the one," "the limit," and "finality," thus critically repositioning poststructuralist feminist philosophy and gender/queer studies. Poststructuralist (feminist) theory sees the subject as a purely linguistic category, as always already multiple, as always already nonfixed and fluctuating, as limitless discursivity, and as constitutively detached from the instance of the real. This reconceptualization is based on the exclusion of and dichotomous opposition to notions of the real, the one (unity and continuity), and the stable. The non-philosophical reading of postructuralist philosophy engenders new forms of universalisms for global debate and action, expressed in a language the world can understand. It also liberates theory from ideological paralysis, recasting the real as an immediately experienced human condition determined by gender, race, and social and economic circumstance.

✏The Rational and the Real Book Summary : A book with so Hegelian a title should, I suppose, be more Hegelian than this one. I share with Hegel the conviction that the rational is the real and the real is the rational. I have learned something from Hegel and borrowed here and there. But the reader should not jump to conclusions. I rather fear that anti-Hegelians will not get past the title and that Hegelians, upon discovering heresy, will give up after the first chapter, but I continue to hope that my fear is quite unjustified. I should, I think, say something about the relation between this book and an earlier work, a University of London Ph. D. thesis, entitled Some Problems in British Idealist Ontology - a Re-examination and Attempted Reconstruction. There, I surveyed some key problems in idealist metaphysics and also endeavoured to discover just how strong a case could be made for the idealist position. I decided that a pretty strong case could be made and I was very nearly convinced by it. The position I have developed here is no longer, strictly speaking, idealist though it is perhaps more nearly idealist than anything else. I have used some ideas developed in the earlier work and some of the chapter titles are the same.

✏The Ideal and the Real Book Summary : Many students coming to grips with Kant's philosophy are understandably daunted not only by the complexity and sheer difficulty of the man's writings, but almost equally by the amount of secondary literature available. A great deal of this seems to be - and not only on first reading - just about as difficult as the work it is meant to make more accessible. Any writer deliberately setting out to provide an authentically introductory text thus faces a double problem: how to provide an exegesis which would capture some of the spirit of the original, without gross and misleading over-simplification; and secondly, how to anchor the argument in the best and most imaginative secondary literature, yet avoid the whole project appearing so fragmented as to make the average book of chess openings seem positively austere. Until fairly recently, matters were made even more difficul t, in that commentaries on Kant were very often of a whole work, say, The Critique of Pure Reason, with the result that students would have to struggle through a very great deal of material indeed in order to feel any confidence at all that they had begun to understand the original writings. Recently, things have changed somewhat. There are now excellent commentaries on "Kant's Analytic", "Kant's Analogies" etc. . We have also seen, (at least as reflected in book titles), a resurgence of interest in what is perhaps the most controversial and far-reaching Kantian claim, viz.

✏The Psychoanalytic Act On the Formation of the No Body Book Summary : This book collates writings from Petros Patounas in response to Jacques Lacan's Seminar of the Psychoanalytic Act. Some of the essays arise from presentations given in the seminar series, "Lacan and the Psychoanalytic Act: A Question of Subjective Presumption" during 2013/14 at the University of London Union, UK. Desire in Lacan is desire for absolute difference and yet its conveyance is an element Alien to the subject - that occurs by the letter and by the act; whose components do not represent themselves for one another as with the signifier. This is because the kinesis, let us say in abbreviated form, the flux, of the question, 'What is Psychoanalysis and What is its Ousia?' refers not to the 'Who or the What is a Psychoanalyst?' but to how the subject can deal with the megacosm of the Real, is neither a surprise nor an enigma - it is a mystery.

✏The Question of Being in Husserl s Logical Investigations Book Summary : This study proposes a double thesis. The first concerns the Logische Untersuchungen itself. We will attempt to show that its statements about the nature of being are inconsistent and that this inconsis tency is responsible for the failure of this work. The second con cerns the Logische Untersuchungen's relation to the Ideen. The latter, we propose, is a response to the failure of the Logische Untersuchungen's ontology. It can thus be understood in terms of a shift in the ontology of the Logische Untersuchungen, a shift motivated by the attempt to overcome the contradictory assertions of the Logische Untersuchungen. In this sense our thesis is that, in the technical meaning that Husserl gives the term, the Logische Untersuchungen and the Ideen can be linked via a "motivated path. " We can, by way of an introduction, clarify our theses by regard ing three elements. The first is the relation of epistemology to ontology. The second is the notion of motivation as Husserl conceives the term. The third is the fundamental distinctions that are to be explained via the notion of motivation. 1. We should begin by remarking that the goal of the Logische Untersuchungen is explicitly epistemological; it is that of answer ing "the cardinal question of epistemology, the question concerning the objectivity of knowledge" (LU, Tub. ed. , I, 8; F. , p. 56V For Husserl, his other questions - i. e.

✏German Administrative Law Book Summary : It is with the greatest pleasure that I add a few introductory remarks to the book of Dr. Mahendra Pal Singh on German administrative law. Between 1981 and 1982 Dr. Singh spent nearly two years in Heidelberg, doing re search partly at the South Asia Institute of the Ruprecht Karl University and partly at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. During his stay in the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Singh studied the general principles of German administrative law in a careful and admirable manner, and he has now completed the present book which is based on his studies in Heidelberg. For several reasons Dr. Singh is especially qualified to write this book: His famil iarity with the administrative law of his home country has enabled him to look upon the German law with considerable objectivity; his knowledge of the German lan guage gave him access to the vast amount of German literature and court decisions; and Dr. Singh was able to penetrate this material with a searching and scholarly spirit. The final product seems to be the first comprehensive treatise in English on German administrative law.

✏ The Real Thing Book Summary : With a writing career spanning over half a century and encompassing media as diverse as conferences, radio, journalism, fiction, theatre, film, and television, Tom Stoppard is probably the most prolific and significant living British dramatist. The critical essays in this volume celebrating Stoppard’s 75th birthday address many facets of Stoppard’s work, both the well-known, such as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and Shakespeare in Love, as well as the relatively critically neglected, including his novel Lord Malquist and Mr. Moon and his short stories, “The Story,” “Life, Times: Fragments,” and “Reunion.” The essays presented here analyze plays such as Arcadia, The Invention of Love, The Real Thing, and Jumpers, Stoppard’s film adaptation of J. G. Ballard’s Empire of the Sun, his television adaptation of Ford Madox Ford’s Parade’s End, and his stage adaptations of Chekhov’s plays Ivanov, The Seagull, and The Cherry Orchard, as well as his own theatrical trilogy on Russian history, The Coast of Utopia (Voyage, Shipwreck, and Salvage). Also included is an interview with Tom Stoppard on the 16 November 1982 debut of his play The Real Thing at Strand Theatre, London, and a detailed account of the Stoppard holdings in the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin. From his fascination with Shakespeare and other historical figures (and time periods) to his exploration of the connection between poetic creativity and scholarship to his predilection for word play, verbal ambiguity and use of anachronism, Stoppard’s work is at once insightful and wry, thought-provoking and entertaining, earnest and facetious. The critical essays in this volume hope to do justice to the brilliant complexity that is Tom Stoppard’s body of work.

✏Shipwreck Book Summary : Conspiracy theorist Chet Morelli has been navigating the river of lies in the United States for more than 30 years. Like many others, he's discovered that the government is no friend of the people, and indeed has plans to enslave its citizens in order to promote a new world order. The evidence is staggering. Poisons such as fluoride have been added to the water supply and mercury continues to be injected into innocent children in the form of vaccines. Meanwhile, the country continues its metamorphosis into a military police state where the people no longer have any rights. This new USA plans to create a master race and depopulate the earth of 80 percent of its people. None of this looks good for the general public, but it's not too late to do something about it. Ask yourself: Where will this blueprint take humanity, and has the Earth become the cosmic battleground on which God and Satan will fight for supremacy? And if so, is this fight near an end? Take the journey and find out the truth in Shipwreck: Sailing on a River of Lies in the USA.
