The global icon, award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, actress, mother, daughter, sister, storyteller and artist finally tells the unfiltered story of her life in The Meaning of Mariah Carey. It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments – the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams – that contributed to the person I am today. Though there have been countless stories about me throughout my career and very public personal life, it’s been impossible to communicate the complexities and depths of my experience in any single magazine article or a ten-minute television interview. And even then, my words were filtered through someone else’s lens, largely satisfying someone else’s assignment to define me. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side. Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing. My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding, not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit. Love, Mariah

Mount Moriah is a book of inspiration that helps to understand the different ways we sacrifice and the provisions that are available during those times. The Lord wanted to test Abraham’s love and faith, and told him to sacrifice his son Isaac (who was the child of promise). He did not doubt God or ask questions, rather he obediently took the child to Mount Moriah to sacrifice. Right there, at the point of sacrificing his son, the Lord stopped

The essays contained in this volume address some of the most visible, durable and influential of African American musical styles as they developed from the mid-1960s into the 21st-century. Soul, funk, pop, R&B and hip hop practices are explored both singly and in their many convergences, and in writings that have often become regarded as landmarks in black musical scholarship. These works employ a wide range of methodologies, and taken together they show the themes and concerns of

The purpose of this book is to give hope to those going through the same situation as Ms. Tejera once did. To put out something in which people can relate to, to have others be aware that suicide does occur, it does happen and no one is alone in it. Some people have gifts while others have to find their meaning. I realized my gifts and found my purpose which was to help someone else. There for I decided to

This volume explores how we can meaningfully relate today's world to the end of the Cold War. The over-all picture is one of flux. Many changes will be the outcome of longer-term trends (eg: Internet). Undeniably, though, many other changes are direct consequences of the end of the Cold War. An important aspect is the way Europeans and Americans have begun to redefine each other, in response to a creeping alienation that has affected public opinion and public discourse on
