📒A Dictionary Of Entomology ✍ Gordon Gordh
✏A Dictionary of Entomology Book Summary : "This book is a comprehensive, fully cross-referenced collection of over 28,000 terms, names and phrases used in entomology, incorporating an estimated 43,000 definitions. It is the only listing which covers insect anatomy, behaviour, biology, ecology, histology, molecular biology, morphology, pest management, taxonomy and systematics. The origin, etymology, part of speech and definition of each term and phrase are all provided, including the language, meaning or root of each term and constituent parts. Where meanings have changed, or terms have been borrowed from other disciplines, the most current usage is indicated. The common names of insects, their scientific binomen and taxonomic classification are provided, with diagnoses of pest species in many cases. All insect order, suborder, superfamily, family and subfamily names are given, together with the diagnostic features of orders and families. Names of deceased entomologists, or scientists from other fields who have contributed to entomology are included, with the citation for their biography or obituary. 📒Regulatory Mechanisms In Insect Feeding ✍ Reg F. Chapman
✏Regulatory Mechanisms in Insect Feeding Book Summary : The only book to deal comprehensively with insect feeding was published by C. T. Brues in 1946. His Insect Dietary was an account of insect feeding habits. Since that time there has been a revolution in biology, and almost all aspects of our understanding of insect feeding have expanded to an extent and into areas that would have been unthinkable in Brues' day. Yet, our book does not replace Insect Dietary but, instead, complements it, because our aim is to bring together information on the mechanisms by which food quality and quantity are regulated. We deliberately focus attention on the feeding process; to include food-finding would have required a much larger book and would have moved the focus away from more proximate mechanisms. This book is dedicated to the late Vincent G. Dethier. As a pioneer in studying the physiological basis of animal behavior, he focused on regulation of feeding in flies and caterpillars. His work on the blowfly, together with that by his many students and co-workers, still provides the most completely described mechanism of insect feeding. The citation of his work in almost every chapter in this book illustrates the importance of his findings and ideas to our current understanding of regulation of insect feeding. The authors in this book provide many innovative and stimulating ideas typifying Dethier's approach to the study of feeding be havior.

✏Atlas of Normal Radiographic Anatomy and Anatomic Variants in the Dog and Cat E Book Book Summary : Featuring hundreds of high-quality digital images, Atlas of Normal Radiographic Anatomy and Anatomic Variants in the Dog and Cat helps you make accurate diagnoses by identifying the differences between normal and abnormal anatomy. Expert authors Donald E. Thrall and Ian D. Robertson describe a wider range of "normal," as compared to competing books, not only showing standard dogs and cats but non-standard subjects such as overweight and underweight pets plus animals with breed-specific variations. This oversized atlas provides an ideal complement to Thrall's Textbook of Veterinary Diagnostic Radiology, the leading veterinary radiography text in the U.S. Use this quick, visual reference for proper technique and interpretation of radiographic images, and you will make accurate diagnoses and achieve successful treatment outcomes. High-quality digital images show anatomic structures with excellent contrast resolution to enable accurate diagnoses. Radiographic images of normal or "standard" prototypical animals are supplemented by images of non-standard subjects exhibiting breed-specific differences, physiologic variants, or common congenital malformations. Brief descriptive text and explanatory legends accompany images, putting concepts into the proper context and ensuring a more complete understanding. Clear labeling of important anatomic structures includes cropped images to emphasize key points, and makes it quicker and easier to recognize unlabeled radiographs. An overview of radiographic technique includes the effects of patient positioning, respiration, and exposure factors. Radiographs of immature patients show the effect of patient age on anatomic appearance. A wide range of "normal" animals is described, to prevent clinical under- and over-diagnosing of clinical patients.
