📒A Land Flowing With Milk And Honey ✍ Elisabeth Moltmann-Wendel
✏A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey Book Summary : The people of Israel set out from slavery in Egypt for a land flowing with milk and honey. The vision they had before them was not one of luxury and idleness, but a dream of fertility and simplicity, life in the natural order, of equality and self-sufficiency. So argues Dr Moltmann-Wendel, and she also points out that milk and honey, produced by the female of the species, are a symbol of the values of women's culture. In the light of this, in her new book she develops a feminist theology based on a reinterpretation of the Bible and Christian tradition. The first part, 'Self-discovery', looks at women's increasing awareness of themselves and their role: at autonomy, patriarchalism and the obliteration of the feminine aspects of the deity. The second part, 'Critical Theology', looks at the nature of feminist theology, the Bible, the idea of God as mother and the matriarchal sub-culture. A final part considers Jesus, his attitudes towards women and their consequences, taking further Dr Moltmann-Wendel's earlier book, The Women around Jesus.

📒 A Land Flowing With Milk And Honey ✍ Studies in Jewish Civilization
✏ A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey Book Summary : "A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey" examines how the promised land of Israel has been seen and interpreted differently over the course of Jewish history by those who call it home and by the many other individuals and cultures it has affected. The first glimpse of the promised land was God's description to Moses of "a land flowing with milk and honey." Since that time, the land has been more than a geographical or political entity. Visions of Israel have proliferated—uniting, dividing, and inspiring individuals and societies for thousands of years. The fourteen contributors to this volume draw upon a variety of scholarly disciplines to consider how and why Israel has been interpreted in so many different ways. Topics include the transplanting of the idea of Zion to a sacred mountain in New Zealand; the roles of archaeology and cartography in shaping perceptions of Israel; the understanding of classical Islamic followers; the multiple meanings of "milk and honey"; the vision of noted engraver and photographer E. M. Lilien; how the land inspired two German-born Jewish women poets; the current meaning of Israel to its political right; the distinct visions of Israeli sculptors and of artist Hermann Struck; images of Israel that appear in Egyptian films; the perceptions of first-time American Jewish tourists to Israel; old stereographic photo tours of the land; and the perspectives of British millenarian missionaries in nineteenth-century Palestine.
📒The Land Cries Out ✍ Salim J. Munayer
✏The Land Cries Out Book Summary : Our theology does not exist in a vacuum but must relate to the world we inhabit and must influence our moral and ethical actions. This is especially true when discussing theology of "the land" in the context of a violent territorial conflict. The Holy Land has seen so much bloodshed that the earth itself is crying out to God. The chapters presented in this book form a unique collection of voices speaking from different perspectives on the issue of the theology of the land. These voices include Messianic Jewish and Palestinian Christian theologians and scholars who live in the Holy Land, as well as others from around the world. The various chapters reflect a wide spectrum of opinion and reveal how much disagreement still exists among followers of Christ. However, the dialogue generated by having these opposing voices side by side, speaking to each other rather than past each other, is encouraging. This book is both challenging and inspirational, and contributes in an innovative way to this important discussion.

📒Christ At The Checkpoint ✍ Paul Alexander
✏Christ at the Checkpoint Book Summary : What does the evangelical church in Palestine think about the land, the end times, the Holocaust, peace in the Middle East, loving enemies, Christian Zionism, the State of Israel, and the possibilities of a Palestinian state? For the first time ever, Palestinian evangelicals along with evangelicals from the United States and Europe have converged to explore these and other crucial topics. Although Jews, Muslims, and Christians from a variety of traditions have participated in discussions and work regarding Israel and Palestine, this book presents theological, biblical, and political perspectives and arguments from Palestinian evangelicals who are praying, hoping, and working for a just peace for both Israelis and Palestinians.
