📒 Say You Re Sorry ✍ Iuliana Constantinescu
✏ Say You re Sorry Book Summary : This paper documents the process of making my MFA thesis, the short dramatic film 'Say You're Sorry'. The screenplay for 'Say You're Sorry', was written by Kari Lund-Tiegen. As a director, I was drawn to Lund-Tiegen's screenplay because of the story it tells of a profound emotional journey undertaken by its small cast of characters in the course of just one afternoon. The story is primarily an interior, psychological one, which was a significant challenge for a director and allowed me to pursue the research question: how can I effectively translate this form of interior story to the exterior, visual medium of film? In exploring this question, I discovered, through rigorous examination, planning and application of every tool in my director's toolkit that there were many subtle, but absolutely essential artistic shifts and additions that needed to be made at critical points through the process to bring this kind of story to the screen. This paper documents and examines those moments of discovery and the process that led to each of them.

Before fleeing the scene, Daisy also manages to grab what proves to be crucial evidence: a necklace from around the killer’s neck. 📒Inappropriate Behavior ✍ Murray Farish
✏Inappropriate Behavior Book Summary : The characters in Inappropriate Behavior teeter on the brink of sanity, while those around them reach out in support, watch helplessly, or duck for cover. In their loneliness, Murray Farish's characters cast about for a way to connect, to be understood, though more often than not, things go horribly wrong. Some of the characters come from the darkest recesses of American history. In 'Lubbock Is Not a Place of the Spirit,' a Texas Tech student recognizable as John Hinckley, Jr. writes hundreds of songs for Jodie Foster as he grows increasingly estranged from reality. Other characters are recognizable only in the sense that their situations strike an emotional chord. The young couple in 'The Thing About Norfolk,' socially isolated after a cross-country move, are dismayed to find themselves unable to resist sexually deviant urges. And in the deeply touching title story, a couple stretched to their limit after the husband's layoff struggle to care for their emotionally unbalanced young son. Set in cities across America and spanning the last half-century, this collection draws a bead on our national identity, distilling our obsessions, our hauntings, our universal predicament.
