✏Pharaoh s Magicians Book Summary : The ancient heresy of Gnosticism has seeped into the church and is being taught in our most influential seminaries today. This can be seen most readily in the willingness-and even determination-of leading scholars and theologians to force the doctrines of evolution into the sacred text of the Scriptures. This book looks closely at the Bible to determine whether or not evolution can be endorsed by the Word of God. It then moves on to examine how today's theologians have played tricks with the text in order to seduce ordinary Christians into embracing Gnosticism. This book is a call to God's people to eradicate this heresy and return to an honest reading of the Bible. These 'higher critics' have castrated Christianity; they themselves are spiritual eunuchs, incapable of producing any spiritual seed with which to grow the church in the coming generations. They hope to bring some reconciliation between the teachings of modern science and the traditional teachings of Scripture, but instead they only serve to instill doubt in the ordinary Christian-doubt that an ordinary believer can ever again trust his own uneducated reading of the Bible. It is sad to think that William Tyndale was martyred for bringing the Bible to the common man, while modern theologians are being praised for taking it away again.

✏Exodus Book Summary : Most Bible commentaries take us on a one-way trip from our world to the world of the Bible. But they leave us there, assuming that we can somehow make the return journey on our own. In other words, they focus on the original meaning of the passage but don't discuss its contemporary application. The information they offer is valuable--but the job is only half done! The NIV Application Commentary Series helps us with both halves of the interpretive task. This new and unique series shows readers how to bring an ancient message into a modern context. It explains not only what the Bible means but also how it can speak powerfully today.

✏Legends of the House of the cretan Woman Book Summary : The House of the Cretan Woman, Bait al-Kretliya, is a sixteenth-century merchant's house that stands adjacent to the ninth-century mosque of Ibn Tulun, in one of the oldest quarters of Cairo. Both the house and the mosque are the subjects of the popular myths gathered in this magical book. In the 1930s the house served as the home of Gayer-Anderson Pasha, an English doctor and art collector, who furnished it with his collections and left it to the Egyptian government in 1945, and it was Gayer-Anderson who collected and translated the stories that are the subject of this book from Sheikh Sulaiman, the last head of the Kretli family and guardian of the saint's tomb that flanks the house. He also commissioned a local artisan to create a series of illustrations on copper plates, one to depict each of the fourteen legends, and published the stories with the drawings, along with his own introductory description of the house, in a small edition in England in 1951 that is now long out of print. For this new edition of this classic book, the author's grandson, Theo Gayer-Anderson, an illustrator and a specialist in restoration and conservation, has enhanced and added color to the original monochrome drawings to reanimate the world of benevolent serpents, magical wells, sultans and serving girls, djinns and saints that surrounds the house and the mosque. This unique collection is a significant piece of local history that offers a fascinating sidelight on two of Cairo's best known monuments.

✏The Third Thousand Years Book Summary : From the days of Father Abraham to the rise of King David were ten turbulent centuries filled with pathos and drama. These were the times of many notable personalities from the Old Testament. This is the epoch of the famous patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Their exemplary lives, as they stood true and faithful in the midst of adversity, are especially poignant today. They were followed by the exciting and tumultuous life of Joseph, who rose to become prime minister of Egypt, and saved that nation from starvation and ruin through his prophetic gifts. From the desert and thundering slopes of Mount Sinai then came the amazing life of Moses, who rose out of his own fear to become one of the greatest prophets and leaders ever known, who used the power of the priesthood to unleash an astonishing flood of miracles that exceeded any other epoch until the ministry of Jesus Christ. He was soon followed by the great Ephraimite general, Joshua, who in his old age lead the children of Israel forth in battle as they conquered the land of Palestine which had been promised to them by the Lord. However, Israel’s rise to greatness was short-circuited by several hundred years of iniquity as they turned from the Lord and wallowed in sin. Fortunately, the Lord did not forsake them as he sent messages of light and hope to many prophets and judges such as Gideon, Deborah, Ruth and Samuel, whose lives still inspire us today. Eventually the children of Israel began to see glimpses of a new golden epoch of righteousness and prosperity through the influence of the prophet Samuel and the rise of King Saul and King David. All of these great names belong to the thrilling third thousand years of human history. The Third Thousand Years, like its predecessor, The First 2,000 Years, makes the Old Testament come alive with new understanding. Obscure and misunderstood passages of scripture can now be understood through the additional light of modern revelation. The text is carefully documented so that every important point is correlated with appropriate passages in the scriptures. Helpful maps, charts and illustrations are also included to enhance our understanding of this fascinating and dynamic epoch of history. This eBook includes the original index, illustrations, footnotes, table of contents and page numbering from the printed format.
