📒The Pendulum ✍ Gregory L. Baker
✏The Pendulum Book Summary : "The Pendulum: A Case Study in Physics" describes one physical system - the pendulum - and its manifestations in classical and modern physics. While being a technical work, this remarkable study is set within the context of the technological, historical, and cultural developments to which the pendulum has contributed.
📒College Physics Textbook Equity Edition Volume 2 Of 3 Chapters 13 24 ✍ An OER from Textbook Equity
✏College Physics Textbook Equity Edition Volume 2 of 3 Chapters 13 24 Book Summary : This text is intended for one-year introductory courses requiring algebra and some trigonometry, but no calculus. College Physics is organized such that topics are introduced conceptually with a steady progression to precise definitions and analytical applications. The analytical aspect (problem solving) is tied back to the conceptual before moving on to another topic. Each introductory chapter, for example, opens with an engaging photograph relevant to the subject of the chapter and interesting applications that are easy for most students to visualize. For manageability the original text is available in three volumes . Original text published by Openstax College (Rice University) www.textbookequity.org
📒Pit And The Pendulum And Other Stories Level 2 Oxford Bookworms Library ✍ Edgar Allan Poe
✏Pit and the Pendulum and Other Stories Level 2 Oxford Bookworms Library Book Summary : A level 2 Oxford Bookworms Library graded reader. Retold for Learners of English by John Escott. Everybody has bad dreams. Horrible things move towards you in the dark, things you can hear but not see. Then you wake up, in your own warm bed, and turn over to go back to sleep. But imagine that you wake up on a hard floor, in a darkness blacker than the blackest night. You listen to the silence, and smell a wet dead smell. Death is all around you, waiting . . .In these stories by Edgar Allan Poe, death whispers at you from every dark corner, and fear can send you mad . . .
📒The Reaction Wheel Pendulum ✍ Daniel J. Block
✏The Reaction Wheel Pendulum Book Summary : This monograph describes the Reaction Wheel Pendulum, the newest inverted-pendulum-like device for control education and research. We discuss the history and background of the reaction wheel pendulum and other similar experimental devices. We develop mathematical models of the reaction wheel pendulum in depth, including linear and nonlinear models, and models of the sensors and actuators that are used for feedback control. We treat various aspects of the control problem, from linear control of themotor, to stabilization of the pendulum about an equilibrium configuration using linear control, to the nonlinear control problem of swingup control. We also discuss hybrid and switching control, which is useful for switching between the swingup and balance controllers. We also discuss important practical issues such as friction modeling and friction compensation, quantization of sensor signals, and saturation. This monograph can be used as a supplement for courses in feedback control at the undergraduate level, courses in mechatronics, or courses in linear and nonlinear state space control at the graduate level. It can also be used as a laboratory manual and as a reference for research in nonlinear control.
✏An account of the influence which two Pendulum Clocks were observed to have upon each other etc Book Summary :
📒The Pendulum ✍ Michael Matthews
✏The Pendulum Book Summary : The pendulum is a universal topic in primary and secondary schools, but its full potential for learning about physics, the nature of science, and the relationships between science, mathematics, technology, society and culture is seldom realised. Contributions to this 32-chapter anthology deal with the science, history, methodology and pedagogy of pendulum motion. There is ample material for the richer and more cross-disciplinary treatment of the pendulum from elementary school to high school, and through to advanced university classes. Scientists will value the studies on the physics of the pendulum; historians will appreciate the detailed treatment of Galileo, Huygens, Newton and Foucault’s pendulum investigations; psychologists and educators will learn from the papers on Piaget; teachers will welcome the many contributions to pendulum pedagogy. All readers will come away with a new awareness of the importance of the pendulum in the foundation and development of modern science; and for its centrality in so many facets of society and culture.
