📒Palestine On A Plate ✍ Joudie Kalla
✏Palestine on a Plate Book Summary : There has been a huge surge of interest in Middle Eastern food in recent years but very few cookery books that focus on the food of Palestine. While many countries in the Middle East have dishes in common, each country has its own interpretation and style. Palestine on a Plate showcases the wide-ranging, vibrant and truly delicious dishes of this country and introduces the reader to traditional Palestinian methods, cooking styles and flavours. Furthermore it presents recipes from the Palestinian home, rather than those traditionally found in restaurants and in most books. Whereas many contemporary Middle Eastern cookery books offer a modern interpretation of ancient recipes, which dilute their authenticity, the recipes in this cookbook are the real deal. This practical cookery book will feature colourful, gorgeous photography evoking the vibrancy and romance of the country.

📒The New Zealanders In Sinai And Palestine Illustrated Edition ✍ Lt Col C. G. Powles
✏THE NEW ZEALANDERS IN SINAI AND PALESTINE Illustrated Edition Book Summary : Contains over 60 illustrations and 10 maps. “The official account of the NZ Mounted Rifles Brigade (Auckland, Canterbury and Wellington Mounted Rifles), which fought right through the Sinai and Palestine campaigns, gaining a high reputation. ...The Mounted Rifles Brigade had been fighting on Gallipoli as infantry, part of the New Zealand and Australian Division, and on 26th December 1915 they arrived back in Alexandria to resume their mounted role; their strength was 62 officers and 1329 other ranks. When reorganization was complete the Brigade numbered 2421 officers and men and 2,884 horses, part of the Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division along with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigades. In March 1916 the Brigade took over part of the Suez Canal Defences but it was in August that the Sinai operations began with the Battle of Romani and the subsequent actions in all of which the Brigade took part. Advancing into Palestine they played a great part in that campaign earning high praise from Allenby. In the appendices there is a Brigade Diary showing the more important moves taken and actions fought during the two campaigns, and they make a most impressive list. As with the other volumes of this history of New Zealand’s part in the Great War the narrative is easy to read and follow, gives a clear picture of the terrain (a virtual travelogue in parts) and the conditions of desert fighting, supported by good maps and plenty of contemporary photos. There is no Roll of Honour nor list of Honours and Awards nor index. Apart from the diary the appendices contain a glossary of terms occurring with place names and the brigade order of battle with succession of commanding officers in all units.”—N&M Print edition.

📒From Water Scarcity To Sustainable Water Use In The West Bank Palestine ✍ Dima Wadi Nazer
✏From Water Scarcity to Sustainable Water Use in the West Bank Palestine Book Summary : Water scarcity is increasing all over the world because of growing population and increasing demands. Countries with limited water resources are urgently in need of a new approach toward water management by shifting from the "use and dispose" approach to the "use, treat, and reuse" approach. This book proposes a framework for the sustainable management of scarce water resources. The approach is based on the application of Cleaner Production thinking to water management. This book focuses on the West Bank in Palestine. The West Bank suffers from extreme water scarcity, has (for political reasons) less water than is naturally available, and anticipates an increase in demand for water for reasons of population and economic growth. Therefore, the West Bank needs to shift away from the present approach to water. The book proposes a set of alternatives for sustainable water management in the domestic, agricultural, and industrial sectors in the West Bank. Implementing a combination of water management alternatives as proposed in this book will put water management in the West Bank in Palestine on a sustainable track.
📒Palestine And Egypt Under The Ottomans ✍ Hisham Khatib
✏Palestine and Egypt Under the Ottomans Book Summary : "Palestine and Egypt under the Ottomans is based on Hisham Khatib's unique collection of art and printed works covering the 400-year period of Ottoman rule in the region. The core of the material here are the paintings - mainly nineteenth-century watercolours, many of them by renowned artists such as Frederick Goodall, Edward Lear, Carl Werner and Carl Haag - which concentrate on a realistic portrayal of the Holy Land (in particular Jerusalem) and Egypt, rather than basking in romantic 'Orientalism'. Images from the valuable plate books are of exceptional interest. These include rare works by Charles van de Velde, Sir David Wilkie, Louis de Forbin, Francois Paris, Achille Prisse d'Avennes and David Roberts. In these plate books the text merely served to explain the large-scale engravings, lithographs or etchings that illustrated them. The section on travel books - also frequently illustrated - includes works by Bernardino Amico, Johann Ludwig Burckhardt, Michel Nau, Adrian Reland and Walter Tyndale. Some of the oldest material discussed and illustrated here - from the earliest days of Ottoman rule in Palestine and Egypt - are the maps and views, many of them by such well known names as Abraham Ortelius and Bernhard von Breydenbach. From the later end of the Ottoman period, this volume also records some of the earliest surveys and atlases of the region, as well as original photographs." --Book Jacket.
📒Metallography And Microstructure In Ancient And Historic Metals ✍ David A. Scott
✏Metallography and Microstructure in Ancient and Historic Metals Book Summary : David A. Scott provides a detailed introduction to the structure and morphology of ancient and historic metallic materials. Much of the scientific research on this important topic has been inaccessible, scattered throughout the international literature, or unpublished; this volume, although not exhaustive in its coverage, fills an important need by assembling much of this information in a single source. Jointly published by the GCI and the J. Paul Getty Museum, the book deals with many practical matters relating to the mounting, preparation, etching, polishing, and microscopy of metallic samples and includes an account of the way in which phase diagrams can be used to assist in structural interpretation. The text is supplemented by an extensive number of microstructural studies carried out in the laboratory on ancient and historic metals. The student beginning the study of metallic materials and the conservation scientist who wishes to carry out structural studies of metallic objects of art will find this publication quite useful.
