📒No Bad Kids Toddler Discipline Without Shame ✍ Janet Lansbury
✏No Bad Kids Toddler Discipline Without Shame Book Summary : Janet Lansbury is unique among parenting experts. As a RIE teacher and student of pioneering child specialist Magda Gerber, her advice is not based solely on formal studies and the research of others, but also on her twenty years of hands-on experience guiding hundreds of parents and their toddlers. “No Bad Kids” is a collection of Janet's most popular and widely read articles pertaining to common toddler behaviors and how respectful parenting practices can be applied to benefit both parents and children. It covers such common topics as punishment, cooperation, boundaries, testing, tantrums, hitting, and more. “No Bad Kids” provides a practical, indispensable tool for parents who are anticipating or experiencing those critical years when toddlers are developmentally obliged to test the limits of our patience and love. Armed with knowledge and a clearer sense of the world through our children’s eyes, this period of uncertainty can afford a myriad of opportunities to forge unbreakable bonds of trust and respect.
📒There Are No Bad Kids ✍ Chuck Slate
✏There Are No Bad Kids Book Summary : This book was written as a result of the author and his wife spending several years providing for kids who needed a home. There are many, many books written on the subject of Òat riskÓ children and/or foster children. Most, if not all, are written by clinical psychologists or other Ôpeople of learningÕ who believe that they are child advocates. NOT THIS ONE! This one tells it like it really is! After the mandatory hours of ÔtrainingÕ (which were not needed because of raising four birth children and a teenager the boys had adopted) the author and his wife began accepting foster children. The book describes how the foster parent feels about raising foster children (and birth children). He relates from the experiences of a foster dad rather than from a clinical slant. The information, of course, applies to birth children, as well. Much information is presented to assist parents in dealing with the problems of puberty. Case studies are included as well as poems from one of the foster girls and a diary from another foster parent about her dealings with two foster children. The sequel to this book is entitled: 'Never Underestimate the Arrogance or Stupidity of Government' and covers a case in which the foster parents sued Child Protective Services for mistreatment of them as foster parents and one of their foster children. It cost them $10,000 and they were sure they would lose, but they wanted to make a statement about the screwed up system.

Holed up within the long-abandoned Blackwell Hotel, nine floors of hidden passageways and two-way mirrors that once acted as a playground for the rich and privileged, Jacob's disturbing gaze is now fixed on Kira, Christine, Michael, Tye, Zoe, Melissa, Richie, and Russell -- eight delinquents hoping to shave time off their county jail sentences by performing community service and restoring the building -- and detention officer Frank Williams, the former cop who put a bullet in Jacob's head four years prior. Goodnight sees the sins in their eyes -- he always does -- and he's going to pluck them out, one by one... 📒Negotiating Parent Adolescent Conflict ✍ Arthur L. Robin
✏Negotiating Parent Adolescent Conflict Book Summary : Parent-adolescent discord is often handled from a unitary perspective, whether the focus is on enhancing parenting skills, resolving conflicts in family relationships, or working to improve the behavior of the individual child. This important work shows the clinician how to incorporate all of these crucial elements into a single, research-based treatment program. Presented is the authors' influential integration of cognitive-behavioral constructs and family systems theory, grounded in consideration of adolescent developmental concerns. The book describes effective ways to conceptualize and assess the problems of embattled parents and teens; use assessment data in treatment planning; overcome resistance and other therapeutic hurdles; and implement carefully sequenced skills training, cognitive restructuring, and functional/structural interventions. The theoretical and empirical bases of the treatment approach are also discussed in depth.
✏Fostered Adult Children Together on the Bridge to Healing Will We Ever Get Over It Book Summary : FACT (Fostered Adult Children Together) is a support group for former foster children. It is based on Ten Stepping Stones and the Bridge to Healing. Will we ever get over it? That question is what this book is all about. The stories that the author and other former foster children shared in this book should help answer that question, for themselves and other former, current, and future foster children. Although there are only sixty-one stories in this book, there could be millions. These stories are dedicated as a voice to the unheard millions. The purpose of the foster care system is to provide a safe haven for children without one, helping them to cross the bridge from foster care to aging out, but sadly the bridge leads to nowhere. Many former foster children end up homeless, dumpster diving for food, on drugs, incarcerated, at worst in body bags, at best, living on the fringes of life. FACT is for former foster children who are tired of being angry, ashamed, and alone, and choose to walk a new path, sharing their experience, strength, and hope while building a bridge to healing. Carol's foster care experience led her to form FACT and write this book. She had an early education in the school of hard knocks and later graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with very high honors. She resides in Michigan with her husband Larry. This book is also available as an e-book and other resources can be found at www.factsupportgroup.com.
