✏Mechanochemical Organic Synthesis Book Summary : Mechanochemical Organic Synthesis is a comprehensive reference that not only synthesizes the current literature but also offers practical protocols that industrial and academic scientists can immediately put to use in their daily work. Increasing interest in green chemistry has led to the development of numerous environmentally-friendly methodologies for the synthesis of organic molecules of interest. Amongst the green methodologies drawing attention, mechanochemistry is emerging as a promising method to circumvent the use of toxic solvents and reagents as well as to increase energy efficiency. The development of synthetic strategies that require less, or the minimal, amount of energy to carry out a specific reaction with optimum productivity is of vital importance for large-scale industrial production. Experimental procedures at room temperature are the mildest reaction conditions (essentially required for many temperature-sensitive organic substrates as a key step in multi-step sequence reactions) and are the core of mechanochemical organic synthesis. This green synthetic method is now emerging in a very progressive manner and until now, there is no book that reviews the recent developments in this area. Features cutting-edge research in the field of mechanochemical organic synthesis for more sustainable reactions Integrates advances in green chemistry research into industrial applications and process development Focuses on designing techniques in organic synthesis directed toward mild reaction conditions Includes global coverage of mechanochemical synthetic protocols for the generation of organic compounds

✏Mechanochemistry and Organic Synthesis from Mystical to Practical Book Summary : Abstract : Mechanochemical knowledge and technology is leaving empiricism behind. What has been learned? And what secrets still remain in the blackbox? Abstract : Perhaps due in no small part to its historical mystique, mechanochemistry has been shrowded in relative obscurity for quite some time. The successes of mechanochemistry in organic synthesis have often been curtailed by a fundamentally limited mechanistic understanding. Lately, however, the community has made great strides towards understanding the fundamentals, as well as large steps forward regarding industrially significant scale-up via twin-screw extrusion. A variety of recent work has traded in some of mechanochemistry's mystique for simple, straight-forward chemical guidelines. This exchange eases the concerns of a would-be practitioner of mechanochemistry, interested in having another tool in their lab. Simultaneously, pressures on institutions and researchers regarding lab safety, environmental awareness, productivity, and so on, continue to make mechanochemistry particularly attractive. The demand has never been higher for a methodology addressing these pressures, and at the same time the barriers to adopting mechanochemistry have never been lower. That being said, there still remains some mystique guarding the "rules" of mechanochemistry. For those interested in solving these fundamental questions, there remain plenty of high-value targets, and several of these will feature throughout this review.

✏Ball Milling Towards Green Synthesis Book Summary : Ball milling has emerged as a powerful tool over the past few years for effecting chemical reactions by mechanical energy. Allowing a variety of reactions to occur at ambient temperatures and in solvent-free conditions, ball milling presents a greener route for many chemical processes. Compared to the use of microwave and ultrasound as energy sources for chemical reactions, ball milling is not as familiar to chemists and yet it holds great potential. This book will introduce practicing chemists to the technique and will highlight its importance for green transformations. Current applications of ball milling will be covered in detail as well as its origin, recent developments and future scope, challenges and prospects. Chemical transformations covered include carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond formation, oxidation by solid oxidants, asymmetric organo-catalytic reactions, dehydrogenative coupling, peptide syntheses and polymeric material syntheses. The book will provide a valuable guide for organic, inorganic and organometallic chemists, material scientists, polymer scientists, reaction engineers and postgraduate students in chemistry.

✏Mechanochemical Synthesis of Composite Materials Book Summary : Mechanochemical treatment is one of the modern promising directions of the chemical and technological processes of obtaining a new substance as a result of the transformation of mechanical energy into the chemical and physical processes of system restructuring. This book presents years of research on the mechanochemical synthesis of composite systems, consisting of inorganic and organic components, obtained by the scientific team of the Institute of Combustion Problems. The book contains, first of all, general ideas about the mechanochemical process and the phenomena accompanying it. The main provisions of structural rearrangement and modification of the surface of dispersible particles are considered, as well as thermodynamics of mechanochemical treatment of materials. Then, using the example of a number of natural minerals, it is shown how mechanochemical treatment can radically change their structure and properties, using various organic compounds as modifiers. Particular attention is paid to the use of ultrasonic treatment, as a kind of mechanical action in a liquid medium on a solid.

✏Shining Light on Mechanochemistry Through Real time Spectroscopy and Diffraction Book Summary : "The desire to develop sustainable and efficient methods for chemical synthesis has driven recent developments in mechanochemistry, where chemical reactions are driven by mechanical energy, as an alternative to solution methodologies. Ball milling reactions are a broadly applicable, sustainable, and cost-effective method of chemical synthesis due to fast reaction times, high conversions, and reduction of solvent cost and waste. Despite the increasing popularity of mechanochemical methods, instrumental techniques capable of providing real-time data for milling reactions remain limited. Real-time monitoring of milling reactions has enormous potential for optimizing and providing mechanistic insights into mechanochemical processes. This Thesis focuses on development of novel mechanochemical syntheses as well as the creation and application of methods for bench-top monitoring of milling reactions. Advances herein include instrumental setups which expand the scope of Raman reaction monitoring, which is rapidly emerging as the leading methodology for monitoring of milling reactions without the need for a synchrotron radiation source. In addition, the first ever use of fluorescence spectroscopy to monitor mechanochemical reactions is presented. These real-time techniques provide complementary information to X-ray powder diffraction studies to better understand a wide variety of mechanochemical syntheses including organic transformations, coordination chemistry, and materials such as metal organic frameworks. The analysis of in situ data provides fundamental insights into reaction rates, kinetics, and reaction optimization of potentially industry relevant materials ranging from agrochemicals to pharmaceuticals. Advances in real-time monitoring of mechanochemical reactions enabled the discovery of novel and potentially isolatable intermediates and aided in the elucidation of the kinetics and fundamental mechanisms involved in milling reactions"--

✏Green Chemical Reactions Book Summary : Green Chemistry is an inventive science based on fundamental research towards the development of new sustainable chemical processes. There is a great need to create a new type of chemistry focused on a new production system, in order to prepare the younger generation to get a greener future. The globalization pushes the chemistry community to adopt ethical issues. In this prospect Green Chemistry can achieve the approval of the society by teaching students to be confident in science and at the same time by convincing people that it is possible to attain technological development with respect and care for the environment we live in. This is why it is of foremost importance that education and fundamental research remain strictly connected, so that democracy and development can grow and progress side by side. This book has been prepared to extend the knowledge of Green Chemistry not disregarding, however, the industrial interest. It is the result of the effort to put together and share the expertise of leading practitioners in the field of Green Chemistry. The Interuniversity Consortium ‘Chemistry for the Environment’ is a non-profit organisation established in 1993 in Italy. At present it includes 31 member universities and 80 research units.
