✏Preparation and Characterization of Electrically Conductive Graphene Based Polymer Nanocomposites Book Summary : In this research, several approaches have been attempted for the preparation of electrically conductive graphene-based polymer nanocomposites via exfoliation and dispersion of graphite derivatives within polymer hosts, followed by reduction processes. Both graphene oxide (GO), which was obtained by the oxidization and exfoliation of graphite, and functionalized graphene oxide (FGO), which was obtained by grafting polymer chains onto GO basal planes via esterification reaction, were used as graphene derivative fillers. Successful oxidization, functionalization and exfoliation were confirmed through various characterizations. The as-prepared GO or FGO were then blended with different polymer matrices using the suspension-mixing method, followed by coprecipitation, hot-pressing and reduction processes. The DC bulk conductivity results showed that the conductivity of nanocomposites followed the percolation theory. And the percolation thresholds of FGO blended composites were much lower than the GO blended one, which determines the compatibility between FGO and polymer matrices was improved through the polymer functionalization.
