📒The Driving Forces Of Change In Environmental Indicators ✍ Paula Fernández González
✏The Driving Forces of Change in Environmental Indicators Book Summary : This book addresses several index decomposition analysis methods to assess progress made by EU countries in the last decade in relation to energy and climate change concerns. Several applications of these techniques are carried out in order to decompose changes in both energy and environmental aggregates. In addition to this, a new methodology based on classical spline approximations is introduced, which provides useful mathematical and statistical properties. Once a suitable set of determinant factors has been identified, these decomposition methods allow the researcher to quantify the respective contributions of these factors. A proper interpretation of findings enables the design of strategies and a number of energy and environmental policies to control the variables of interest. This book also analyses the impact of several factors that allow control of these variables; among them, assessment of the specific contribution of improved energy efficiency is particularly relevant. A number of divisia-index-based techniques for decomposing changes in a generic indicator are now available, and these range from classical techniques based on Laspeyres and Paasche weights to more refined approaches relying on logarithmic mean weighting schemes. This book is intended for undergraduates and graduates of energy economics and environmental sciences, environmental policy advisors, and industrial engineers.
📒Schooling In East Asia Forces Of Change ✍ R. Murray Thomas
✏Schooling in East Asia Forces of Change Book Summary : Schooling in East Asia: Forces of Change describes the condition and backgrounds of formal and non-formal education in five East Asian nations and in two colonies. The book also considers the forces that have influenced the form that the seven educational systems have assumed. Organized into nine chapters, this book begins with an identification of the several significant historical features of East Asia. The next seven chapters are presented in four parts. Part I centers on Japan, Part II on the Republic of China on Taiwan and the People's Republic of China on the Asian mainland, Part III on South Korea and North Korea, and Part IV on the two colonies of Hong Kong and Macau. Packed with examples and case studies, the book provides a practical blueprint for leading people through change - an invaluable tool for any manager responsible for planning or delivering change. Dr Anthony Greenfield is a management consultant with several years experience advising blue chip organisations such as Sainsburys, Marks and Spencer and Prudential Assurance. 📒Change Forces With A Vengeance ✍ Michael Fullan
✏Change Forces With A Vengeance Book Summary : Change Forces With a Vengeance is the third in the chaos theory trilogy (now called complexity theory). The first two books focused on understanding the real complexity of educational reform in action. This book pushes even deeper by providing new insights and lessons of change concerning moral purpose, and what is called tri-level reform - the school and community, the local district and the state. It draws on reform initiatives across many levels and countries so that the ideas are grounded in the reality of actual projects and findings. Change Forces With a Vengeance is different from the previous two books in one major respect. Instead of being content with understanding complex system dynamics, it takes up the more daunting question of how systems can be changed for the better. How can we achieve large-scale reform and do it in a way that the conditions for sustainability are enhanced? What policy levers are needed, and what is the smallest number of sets of policies that will maximise impact? What is the role of new leadership in accomplishing sustainable, comprehensive reform? These questions and more are addressed in ways that are both deeply theoretical, and powerfully practical.
