✏Displaced I Book Summary : Who are we? Where do we come from? Is there other life in the Universe? Is there a God? What happens after we die? What if you could have those answers? Would you want to know? In 2006, I discovered a quarter mint stamped in the year 2025. Is time travel real too? My search for the origin of this quarter led me to those answers, and more. They changed my life. Are you ready to know also? The year is 2006. I'm at one of the lowest points in my life when I accidentally discover a quarter with the mint stamp of 2025. I set out on a mission to determine the authenticity of this coin by taking it to David DeMinte, a rare coin dealer and a friend. He declares it a fake. His actions say differently after my refusal to sell him the coin. I now know I’m onto something more significant than my problems. I heard Dave make a covert phone call as I left his shop. Later that afternoon, I received a message in the form of a dream. Detective Connor MacKenzie, the head of an organization who calls themselves the FCA, explains that I’ve stumbled across an anomaly out of time. They’re in the process of sending someone to retrieve it. Connor also explains that they’re the ‘good guys’ and where there are good guys, there are also ‘bad guys.’ They too are coming. Is my discovery indeed a coin out of time? I’ll come to know the answers to all of my questions, including answers to questions I dare not ask.

✏The Displaced Book Summary : In January 2017, Donald Trump signed an executive order stopping entry to the United States from seven predominantly Muslim countries and dramatically cutting the number of refugees allowed to resettle in the United States each year. The American people spoke up, with protests, marches, donations, and lawsuits that quickly overturned the order. But the refugee caps remained. In The Displaced, Pulitzer Prize–winning writer Viet Thanh Nguyen, himself a refugee, brings together a host of prominent refugee writers to explore and illuminate the refugee experience. Featuring original essays by a collection of writers from around the world, The Displaced is an indictment of closing our doors, and a powerful look at what it means to be forced to leave home and find a place of refuge.

✏What Matters Book Summary : "The reasoned and insistent exhortations of a man with a cause who, rather than mellowing with age and wisdom, continues to grow in forcefulness and vision." —Booklist Over the years, Wendell Berry has sought to understand and confront the financial structure of modern society and the impact of developing late capitalism on American culture. There is perhaps no more demanding or important critique available to contemporary citizens than Berry's writings — just as there is no vocabulary more given to obfuscation than that of economics as practiced by professionals and academics. Berry has called upon us to return to the basics. He has traced how the clarity of our economic approach has eroded over time, as the financial asylum was overtaken by the inmates, and citizens were turned from consumers — entertained and distracted — to victims, threatened by a future of despair and disillusion. For this collection, Berry offers essays from the last twenty-five years, alongside new essays about the recent economic collapse, including “Money Versus Goods” and “Faustian Economics,” treatises of great alarm and courage. He offers advice and perspective as our society attempts to steer from its present chaos and recession to a future of hope and opportunity. With urgency and clarity, Berry asks us to look toward a true sustainable commonwealth, grounded in realistic Jeffersonian principles applied to our present day.
