✏Digital Libraries and Innovation Book Summary : The digital libraries emerging from "information societies" no longer concern only digital technodocumentary devices that are patrimonial, cultural or scientific. Social networks and high-audience merchant sites share the same technologies, heterogeneous digital resources, offer identical user experience (UX) capabilities, and are born within the same communities of designers and engineers. These technology-induced recoveries nourish a usage fantasy that irrigates a transformation movement of innovation where use and user occupy a central place. The evolution of digital libraries does not constitute a disjointed set of singular innovations. They are the result of an innovation movement that gives them a specific dynamic and produces two major effects: empowering users and increasing their number. This book highlights and study that the combination of these effects is likely to have a positive impact not only from an economic point of view but more broadly from a social point of view. Presents information from the society of information Contains technologic and cognitive accessibility technologies Provides information on Interoperability technologies

✏Business Planning for Digital Libraries Book Summary : This book brings together international experience of business planning for digital libraries: the business case, planning processes, costs and benefits, practice and standards, and comparison with the traditional library. Although there is a vast literature already on other aspects of digital libraries, business planning is a subject that until now has not been systematically integrated in a book. Digital libraries are being created not only by traditional libraries but also by museums, archives, media organizations, and any institution concerned with managing scientific and cultural information. Business Planning for Digital Libraries is designed for practitioners in the cultural and scientific sectors, for students in information sciences and cultural management, and in particular for people engaged in managing digital libraries and repositories, in electronic publishing and e-learning, and in teaching and studying in these fields.

✏Digital Libraries Book Summary : The emergence of the Internet and the wide availability of affordable computing equipment have created tremendous interest in digital libraries and electronic publishing. This book is the first to provide an integrated overview of the field, including a historical perspective, the state of the art, and current research. The term "digital libraries" covers the creation and distribution of all types of information over networks, ranging from converted historical materials to kinds of information that have no analogues in the physical world. In some ways digital libraries and traditional libraries are very different, yet in other ways they are remarkably similar. People still create information that has to be organized, stored, and distributed, and they still need to find and use information that others have created. An underlying theme of this book is that no aspect of digital libraries can be understood in isolation or without attention to the needs of the people who create and use information. Although the book covers a wide range of technical, economic, social, and organizational topics, the focus is on the actual working components of a digital library.
