✏Data ism Book Summary : By one estimate, 90 percent of all of the data in history was created in the last two years. In 2014, International Data Corporation calculated the data universe at 4.4 zettabytes, or 4.4 trillion gigabytes. That much information, in volume, could fill enough slender iPad Air tablets to create a stack two-thirds of the way to the moon. Now, that's Big Data. Coal, iron ore, and oil were the key productive assets that fueled the Industrial Revolution. The vital raw material of today's information economy is data. In Data-ism, New York Times reporter Steve Lohr explains how big-data technology is ushering in a revolution in proportions that promise to be the basis of the next wave of efficiency and innovation across the economy. But more is at work here than technology. Big data is also the vehicle for a point of view, or philosophy, about how decisions will be—and perhaps should be—made in the future. Lohr investigates the benefits of data while also examining its dark side. Data-ism is about this next phase, in which vast Internet-scale data sets are used for discovery and prediction in virtually every field. It shows how this new revolution will change decision making—by relying more on data and analysis, and less on intuition and experience—and transform the nature of leadership and management. Focusing on young entrepreneurs at the forefront of data science as well as on giant companies such as IBM that are making big bets on data science for the future of their businesses, Data-ism is a field guide to what is ahead, explaining how individuals and institutions will need to exploit, protect, and manage data to stay competitive in the coming years. With rich examples of how the rise of big data is affecting everyday life, Data-ism also raises provocative questions about policy and practice that have wide implications for everyone. The age of data-ism is here. But are we ready to handle its consequences, good and bad?

✏The ISM method Version 3 Book Summary : This book describes a revolutionary approach on how to successfully implement IT service management (ITSM) in an easier, faster, cheaper, and especially more effective way.In the book, the lessons of 30 years are used to put an end to the chaos and complexity of ineffective ITSM projects. Based on simple paradigms, a single and compact solution is described for the integrated service management with People, Process and Product. This is not achieved by setting ITIL or ASL aside, but by rearranging the many valuable elements of these frameworks into a simple logical structure, and filling the gaps. Although the paradigms are explained extensively in the book, the solution is very practical and has been proven in recent years in dozens of projects with small and large organizations. This publication describes the implementation method, with a strong focus on quality assurance and cultural change, a comprehensive definition list, and an example of a compact process model.

✏Information Warfare Book Summary : Cyberspace is one of the major bases of the economic development of industrialized societies and developing. The dependence of modern society in this technological area is also one of its vulnerabilities. Cyberspace allows new power policy and strategy, broadens the scope of the actors of the conflict by offering to both state and non-state new weapons, new ways of offensive and defensive operations. This book deals with the concept of "information war", covering its development over the last two decades and seeks to answer the following questions: is the control of the information space really possible remains or she a utopia? What power would confer such control, what are the benefits?

✏From Observations to Self Consistent Modelling of the ISM in Galaxies Book Summary : Research of the interstellar medium (ISM) has been advancing rapidly during the last 10 years, mainly due to immensely improved observational facilities and techniques in all wavelength ranges. We are now able to investigate the ISM in external galaxies and even the intergalactic and intracluster medium in great detail. Increased spatial and spectral resolution have provided us with a great deal of information on the interstellar gas in its various phases, the magnetic field and the cosmic rays, and of course, also the stellar component, which is the driving agent of the interstellar matter cycle. Since only fairly recently, a sufficient amount of computing power has become available to tackle these problems with some prospect of obtaining a self-consistent picture of the ISM, a major goal of this workshop was to bring together observers and theoreticians sufficiently close, so that intense discussions about the necessities and desiderata of modelling the ISM could be stimulated. Observers have shown in great detail on this conference of what is seen on all scales of the ISM, near and far, and what boundary conditions would be appropriate for realistic models, and theoreticians pointed out what assumptions and simplifications their codes need, and how future observations could test their models. As a first step towards this goal, some self-consistent numerical simulations with a minimum number of relevant physical processes were also presented on this meeting. There was wide agreement, that this approach - to keep observers and theoreticians in close contact and also in sometimes quite controversial discussions - will bear fruitful results in the near future.

✏The Indomitable Investor Book Summary : A new approach to investing based on how Wall Street insidersapproach the market The Indomitable Investor deconstructs the stock market asthe public has come to know it and reconstitutes it from the insideout from the perspective of the fortunate few who dominate WallStreet. By revealing how top investors and traders think and actSteven Sears shows the stock market to be an undulating ocean ofmoney, with seasoned investors reading the waves others cannot. Teaching readers to think about the market in radicallydifferent ways, The Indomitable Investor shows how toimprove returns—and, just as importantly, avoidlosses—with disciplines deployed by people who almost alwaysdo exactly the opposite of what Wall Street says to do. Laying bare great fallacies, the book explains thatnon-professional investors wrongly think the stock market is aplace to make money, which is what Wall Street wants them to try todo. The Indomitable Investor says otherwise and shows howWall Street's best investors have a completely different focus. Explains the critical ideas and insights of top traders andinvestors in language anyone can understand and implement Packed with material rarely shared off Wall Street that is usedevery day by professional investors Introduces the 17 most important words on Wall Street Teaches critical skills, including: How to increase returns byfocusing on risk, not potential profits; how to use the stockmarket's historical patterns to optimize investment decisions;understanding key relationships between stocks and the economy thatpredict what will happen to stocks and the broader market; how toincrease mutual fund returns with an easy adjustment that redirectsthe bulk of profits to you—not mutual fund companies, and howto analyze information like seasoned investors to move beyond"statement of the obvious" news reports that turn ordinaryinvestors into Dumb Money Accessible to readers of all backgrounds, including those with alimited understanding of investing, The Indomitable Investorwill change how investors view the stock market, Wall Street, andthemselves.

✏Ask Measure Learn Book Summary : You can measure practically anything in the age of social media, but if you don’t know what you’re looking for, collecting mountains of data won’t yield a grain of insight. This non-technical guide shows you how to extract significant business value from big data with Ask-Measure-Learn, a system that helps you ask the right questions, measure the right data, and then learn from the results. Authors Lutz Finger and Soumitra Dutta originally devised this system to help governments and NGOs sift through volumes of data. With this book, these two experts provide business managers and analysts with a high-level overview of the Ask-Measure-Learn system, and demonstrate specific ways to apply social media analytics to marketing, sales, public relations, and customer management, using examples and case studies.
