About the Book: Man has always known that air (oxygen) and water are the two most important items for life. Yet, few people are aware of the scientific facts regarding water. In a sense, water is a weird compound of nature. Man being highly selfish exploiting the natural resource like water and also making water bodies getting polluted. The present work is an attempt to bring awareness among public about the usage of water in limited quantities and save the water for future generations besides recharging the depleting water resources. This book provides the knowledge of multidimensional aspect of aquatic environment which involves the sources, compositions, chemical reactions and transport of water. The chemistry of water exposed to the atmosphere has been quite different from that of water at the bottom of rivers and lakes. One must know the factors which influence this 'Water Chemistry' and its movement with the 'Eco System'. About the Author: Alla Appa Rao is at present working as senior lecturer in Chemistry in the Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. He is postgraduate in Chemistry, Sociology and Education from Andhra University. He is an author of so many books in Mother Tongue among one is published by Pottisriramalu Telugu University, Hyderabad i.e., Environmental Studies (in Telugu). He is a panel member of TRANSALATOR National Book Trust, India. He got Andhra Pradesh State best Polytechnic Lecturer Award in the year 2000. He is also a member of Institution of Chemistry (India) and wrote many articles on various scientific phenomena published in various journals and magazines. He got M. Phil. from Andhra University and at present doing Ph.D., on learning disabilities in children in Secondary Schools of Andhra Pradesh at Andhra University.

How will chemists of the future balance competing concerns of environmental stewardship and innovative, cost-effective product development? For chemists to accept the idea that environmental quality and economic prosperity can be intertwined, the concept of the food-energy-water nexus must first be integrated into underlying thought processes. Food, Energy and Water: The Chemistry Connection provides today’s scientists with the background information necessary to fully understand the inextricable link between food, energy and water and how this conceptual framework should form

To the biochemist, water is, of course, the only solvent worthy of consideration, because natural macromolecules exhibit their remarkable conformational properties only in aqueous media. Probably because of these remarkable properties, biochemists do not tend to regard proteins, nucleotides and polysaccharides as polymers in the way that real polymer scientists regard methyl methacrylate and polyethylene. The laws of polymer statistics hardly apply to native biopolymers. Between these two powerful camps, lies the No-man's land of water soluble synthetic polymers: here,

This book exhibits deep philosophical quandaries and intricacies of the historical development of science lying behind a simple and fundamental item of common sense in modern science, namely the composition of water as H2O. Three main phases of development are critically re-examined, covering the historical period from the 1760s to the 1860s: the Chemical Revolution (through which water first became recognized as a compound, not an element), early electrochemistry (by which water’s compound nature was confirmed), and early
