A collection of inspiring poems; a story of hope and courage emergent from one poet's will to survive. Based on real life events -...And the Sky Still Sings- is a powerful, roller-coaster voyage into the life and psyche of a young woman born and raised in the inner city of Dayton, Ohio. Written as a three-part story, readers embark on an emotional journey colored by her personal lens and poetic tone from childhood to young adulthood. K. Anahi rises through the mire with creative lyric, rhyme, rhythm, vision, and voice. It is not only a collection of raw emotions but also a look into the paradoxical world of vulnerable resiliency. K. Anahi is the self-proclaimed Ghetto's Poet. Her work highlights poignant political and social justice issues that plague a multitude of urban cities across America and articulates hope. As her writing began as early as second grade, K. Anahi began to elevate her work from hobby to career following a family tragedy in 2008. As a doctoral student studying Clinical Psychology at Adler University, K. Anahi enjoys writing pieces that incorporates her two passions of psychology and poetry. She currently lives in Chicago, IL with clinical interests of trauma, high-risk youth, grief and loss, self-esteem, gang violence, etc. which are often the backdrop for her artistry.
