✏Production of Biodiesel from Vegetable Oil Advances in Chemistry of Energy and Fuels Book Summary : The purpose of this research is to demonstrate that Biodiesel (BD) can be produce from vegetable oil, without relying on fossil fuel reducing the problem of contamination by CO2, since the BD works within a biological cycle. The objectives are develop a process for BD production from new and used vegetable oil by reaction of transesterification and determine the average yield of production, density and viscosity for every batch. BD is a synthetic biofuel that can be produce from animal fats and natural lipids such as vegetable oil. The procedure of BD preparation consist in use vegetable oil and the sodium methoxide mixture in an agitator reactor, maintaining the temperature at 48 degrees C and 300 rpm during 45 minutes. By operation of decantation, the BD was separate from the glycerin then this BD was subjected to various washing steps with distilled water to remove any impurities. As results, the average yield for the new vegetable oil was 90% while for the used vegetable oil was 92%. The average viscosity for the new vegetable oil was 4.785g/cm-s and for used vegetable oil was 5.717g/cm-s, this values indicates that it is within range of the industrial BD. The BD produce was tasted in a pickup Ford 250 and a digger owned by the University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo, both with an excellent performance.

A number of books focus on the production of biogas or biohydrogen alone. In comparison, this book emphasizes the interactions and common knowledge of both. In addition, the potential of new technologies, such as microbial electrochemical technologies, and two-stage fermentation on gas biofuel production are highlighted and specifically discussed based on the authors research basis. This book provides a state-of-the-art technological insight into the production of gas biofuels from waste biomass. Specifically, this book consists of three parts. In Part I, the principles for gas biofuels production from waste biomass, including biogas production (Chapter 1) and biohydrogen production (Chapter 2).
